4 Fun Things To Do in the Summer

First Day of Summer 2019: June 21 marks summer solstice, longest ...

Summer.

I have mixed feelings about this time of year. True, there is no school, no homework (well...maybe a little bit), and we are free to do what we want. But....where I'm from, it is hot. Like really, really HOT. I'm constantly looking for ways to have fun while it's burning up outside, and it doesn't help that masks are expected when you are planning on coming in close contact with other people. Or, just if you are going to be out in general.

That's why I'm here with a few fun things to do in the summer (no masks included) that can help beat the heat.

Presenting....

Four Fun Things to Help Beat the Heat

(while having fun. Did I mention that?)

1. Art!

Art is fun to do anytime, everywhere. From chalk art to canvas creations, the possibilities are endless. Try picking up some paint and a paintbrush, or go wild with oil pastels or gel pens.
Down below are a few fun things ways to express yourself with art. Try them! And, if you are feeling brave enough with sharing your creativity, email a picture or video of your work to TQC.blog@gmail.com and you might just be featured in an upcoming WINNER section!

2. Make a Game

I love board games. My whole family does. They are fun, interactive for everyone, and can vary from testing your brain and making you think to making you laugh so hard.... you pee.
So why not make your own? You can start with your own design, or you can buy designs and platforms to help you get started. Get your family together (or make it on your own if you want to) and start planning a fun game to keep everyone entertained! Make rules, too, to make sure the game doesn't get out of hand. Lastly, test it out with your family and see what needs improving, and what is good just like it is!
Even better, this fun activity isn't limited to board games. You can make card games, travel games, ANY GAMES!
Send us pictures!!! We would love to see your work! You might just get featured in an upcoming WINNER section! Go, go go, and have some fun making games!

3. A Scavenger Hunt

This one has already been mentioned in a past Boredom Busters post, but why not bring it up again? After all, scavenger hunts are ALWAYS a good idea.

Start by writing down a list of summer things around your home, the neighborhood, or even around town if you can get someone to drive you (Or if you are old enough to drive yourself). Pineapples, popsicles, watermelon..... at the moment I can only think of summer food items..... but you get the point. Summer, summer, SUMMER stuff!
Once you have made a list, make checkboxes and print out extra copies for friends or siblings. A fun way to stay connected with far-away friends; text or email them the list and have them print it out. Have a set time (like 2 or something) to start the scavenger hunt, and both race to be the first to find all the items on the list!
To keep track of your findings, you can agree to take pictures, a video, or just plain checkbox it and assure the other person you weren't cheating. ;)

Whatever you do, have fun! (Here is a list you can either copy and print, or just copy off of, that has a bunch of summer things to find!)

4. Fix Some Stuff Up

This one is just what it sounds- go around the house and find every broken, neglected item that needs your care. Put some hammer and nail to it, or maybe just some glue and tape, and get it looking its best!
This may not seem like the ideal summer activity, but it is actually really fun to see long forgotten (and sometimes useless) items that just needed a touch of restoration!
