Let’s Get CRAFTY- Potion Bottles

So, we’ve done egg painting, dyed milk- what’s next? Well- Abra-cadabra! 1,2,3! Today we are making………….

      POTION  BOTTLES

I call them potion bottles, you can call them whatever you like, but whether or not you like Harry Potter, waving wands, and drinking potions, these bubbly decorations are fun for giving your room a little bit of color! What would you name yours? Show me a picture of your bottle with a tagline, and you might be featured in the next Let’s Get Crafty!

All you need:

Empty bottles w/ cork caps

Food dye

Water

  1. Drop some food coloring into a cup of water (remember, with food dye, the more drops, the darker the color)

  1. Mix up the dyed water.

  1. Pour the water into the empty bottle (I recommend using a funnel)

  1. Cap the bottle, and you are done!

Want more? Of course you do...

Once you are finished mixing up the dye with the water, Add a little bit of vegetable oil or some other kind of oil to the cup of water. You don't need to stir. Empty the cup into the bottle and shake to make it look like a lava lamp!!

SECRET RECIPE… try if you dare...

If you are familiar with the love potion- Amortentia- from Harry Potter, you would find a close resemblance between the two. This bottle is very swirly and pearly, and really cool-looking. All you do is add a dollop of shaving cream to the water, mix well, and get it into the bottle. For the cool, pearly look, shake well. (note- because shaving cream is a cream, it can mold. Every few weeks, take a couple of minutes to empty out and clean the bottle, then redo it)
