Welcome back to our second segment of LET’S GET CRAFTY!!!! This segment is where I will encourage everyone to get crafty! We will get to experiment with fun art projects, science experiments, and more! Since last week’s tutorial was Easter eggs, I thought we could do a science project this week. So, without further adoooooo………..
MILK ON THE MOOOO00VE
This experiment is very fun, super easy, and involves minimal explosion. (Just kidding, no explosions in THIS experiment!) All you need is…..
a paper plate
enough milk to cover the surface of the paper plate (about half a cup)
food dyes (at least four colors)
a couple of drops of laundry detergent
a Q-tip
put the paper plate over a paper towel or onto a surface that can handle any spills (in case the milk spills)
Pour the half cup of milk onto the plate (if it is really close to overflowing, don't pour it all in)
Add a few drops of different food dyes. Once you are done with one color, put the next color on top of the first.
Take a Q-tip with some detergent, and dip it into the water.
I must say this was one of my favorite experiments I have ever done. It looks like spiraling, colorful tye dye in milk, and it takes three minutes to make! All household ingredients, and a
fun result!
Although I will warn you not to try drinking the milk afterward…..
Here is a fun challenge! This week for the art contest, I want you to try this experiment and tell me about it! Include a couple of your favorite pictures from this experiment, and send it off! I will choose my favorite entry (picture) and feature it in next week’s LET”S GET CRAFTY section! Email me with your entry here. I can’t wait to see all those bold, brilliant colors in a pool of white! ;)
